This blog is my attempt at creating a GRE Literature in English study guide; i.e., something that will be useful to all lit. students out there banging their head against the wall trying to study for the GRE Literature test; i.e., something that I can declare my contribution to humanity. I've taken the test once, but I'm taking it again. It is A BITCH.
Maybe a little bit about myself first: I completed my undergraduate degree in Comparative Literature in the States, and am now pursuing an M.A. in Postcolonial Literature in the UK. But I want to go back to the States, get a Ph.D. there - hence the need to study for the GRE lit. test. Schools at the top of my list? Columbia and Harvard, simply because of Spivak and Bhabha; but UCLA is a favorite too, because being in the UK makes me miss sunshine.
Sources I will be using: The Princeton Review's Cracking the GRE Literature Subject Test, and "Vade Mecum" and "Hapax Legomena", a couple of useful sites I found off the Internet. I won't claim to be comprehensive, but by combining stuff from all these sources I hope to be able to cover pretty much what will be on the test. I will be updating as I go along with my flashcard making, and hopefully I will get this all done by mid-October to begin mad revision for the 13th November test date. So....let's get cracking!
